Question:I would like Thunderbird to automatically check all IMAP folders for new mail when I start up the program. How can I achieve this?
Answer:Indeed your Mozilla Thunderbird email program can download all mail from all your accounts at application startup. Simply add the statement shown in the box below to your user.js file.
The user.js file is located in the profile directory and allows you to customize settings Thunderbird. If this is your first such customization then your computer will not have a user.js file yet.
On Windows XP, your location would be something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Application Data\Thunderbird\[..] [..]Profiles\viskw6k7.default // in a German Windows XP installation: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\peter\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\[..] [..]Profile\sviskw6k7.default
You can create user.js as a text file with notepad or any other text editor.
